1. Introductory to the problems
Since Indonesia won Independence, the use of the Javanese language in written form has been declining, although Javanese language is still in use as a means or oral communication. Printed literature edited in Javanese has vanished. The Javanese Alphabet is out of use for communication. This paper will analyse the development of the written language in essay form, in order to find a way for the Javanese language to be preserved in written for.
First we will describe the development of Javanese in oral form. This will be followed by the development of Javanese written language. Then we want to analyse the problems faced by the use of Javanese languages. Afterward we shall describe the efforts undertaken to preserve the Javanese literature, followed by a description of the Javanese language for oral communication. As interesting point is the analysis of the use of Javanese language by overseas Javanese. The description closes with suggestions regarding how the preservation of Javanese written literature should be achieved.
